We always try to go out on March 17. It's the anniversary (55 yrs, this time) of our engagement. We were sitting here working on the latest book when it began to snow. The sun had just come up, so it must have been around 7:30. It snowed like gangbusters for an hour or so, then sleeted for a few minutes, then began to snow again.
Hubby dragged out the snow blower and went to town. That was around 10:00am. We postponed our lunch plans. Then about 2:00pm, everything stopped! We were dressed and ready to go by 2:45, and off we went to Applebee's. We go there a lot because it's only about a mile away.
The streets were far from clear, but they were just slushy - no ice, it had gotten too warm, all the way to 41 degrees. The restaurant wasn't crowded. We managed to have a lovely - lupper - without being interrupted by chatty acquaintances or incompetent wait staff. Everything was delicious and we fully enjoyed our little make-believe anniversary.
I really did a number on my new stainless steel specially-made knee, though. It hurts so bad! I have two pain pills left and I'm going to take them before I go to bed.
There's still a lovely layer of snow on the ground - probably 4 inches. We were told there wouldn't be any accumulation at all, just occasional flurries. Goes to show you how accurate those computer models are!
Oh, I broke my computer mouse last night. I worried all night that Hubby would be irritated, but he just laughed, bless 'im, and gave me the mouse from his computer. All those years of husband-training are really starting to pay off.
