AND THE FUN NEVER ENDS ...

We haven't had any home-related problems for quite a while, so I guess we were due for one.  Hubby came in just after supper to say that the backyard faucet was broken.  Of course it broke in the open position and was gushing water all over.  He put the hose on it and shut it off that way, but he says the pressure is very high and the hose won't hold it for long, then we'll have a broken faucet AND a broken hose!  So, he turned the water off after we got ready for bed tonight.  Ugh.  Oh, here's the best part:  We have stuff to do every day for the rest of the week, so he won't have time to work on it until next week.  Unless - unless it's just the actual handle that's broken.  He's hoping that the handle is stripped and he can put on a replacement, which he already found in his handy-dandy tool box.  He's going to try that first thing in the morning.

Meanwhile, we must beware.  These problems always seem to happen in threes.

Hope it is something minor. At least it is outside. You must pay for your water as we do. Sorry.

We’re both hoping it is just the stripped-out faucet. As soon as it gets light enough, Hubby will be out there to find out.

Bright side… You can see what the yard looks like with a pool or pond?

What a great thought! It would also be a good giant bird bath.

Um if you have that many birds you should probably stop channeling Alfred Hitchcock.

    Was it just the faucet?

Nope – no such luck. Something has sheered off deep inside the walls … that can’t be good.

No, that sounds really bad to me. Best wishes.

I can remember when I was a little girl and my Grandmother said to us children, “One day we’ll have to pay for water and air.” I thought she was nuts. We had a well and that’s what I grew up drinking. Years later, when I was an adult……paying for water utility. Air is no longer free either. You have to pay to use an air hose to put air into tires. I can remember when that was free.

that happened to us back in WI, the plumbiing was old am talking a house wll over 100 yr old, other half had to turn off the water at the source, replace the piping(which was run through the sub flooring), he put a shut off valve in the basement so it wouldnt happen again….we did a whole lot for that house, too bad we lost it…..plumbing, well it gets old and fails, but we just put it back together..you should see the kind of plumbing they have down here, wouldnt even come close to code,,but then, the winter down here usually sits around 50 or so….

When we lived in Texas, we bought a brand new house and discovered that most of the houses there run the water pipes through the attic. Now there’s a disaster waiting to happen! We were just plain lucky that it never happened to us.

    Hows the water situation?

    August 05, 2017
    1. Bettymom

The same. It’s turned off now. Hubby had to order the part from Home Depot and it isn’t supposed to get here until next Tuesday.

So you will have a pool in summer and a rink in winter.

…so someone will drown or fall on the ice and sue us …

And then you will counter sue for trespassing, invasion of privacy, emotional stress, and several other things.
